Hi my name is Amy and welcome to my unemployed project. I am currently looking for work which is driving me insane, so I have decided to focus on something more productive than sitting in bed all day full of self loathing. I have always loved cooking, especially big themed feasts for family and friends. Here I will perfect recipes I have made for parties but never wrote down and test all the dishes and techniques that spin around my head all day. 

Why “Blow Out Your Kyte”?

I came across this phrase whilst making a playlist for an East End themed dinner, it’s a lyric from an old music hall song called “Boiled Beef and Carrots,” the phrase “blow out your kyte” – a regional expression meaning “fill your belly.” I like to think it’s essentially the English equivalent of “bon appétit,”. The name resonated with me on multiple levels: it’s delightfully silly (a quality I value highly), it a nod to British food history, and it’s also a dish I have fond memories of cooking with my dad when I was growing up.
